Bangladesh earned their first gold medal at the 2022 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage 1 as archers Ruman Sana and Nasrin Akter proved themselves to be the superior duo in the recurve mixed event against their Indian counterparts in Phuket, Thailand today.
Despite losing the first set and drawing the second, Ruman and Nasrin were not meant to be subdued as the game ended 5-3 in their favour, with Bangladesh winning the third and the fourth set. The duo were the deserving winners, having thrashed opponents from Thailand and Kazakhstan, both with 6-0 score, on route to gold medal.
Bangladesh, featuring Diya Siddique, Nasrin and Famida Sultana Nisha, will also be eyeing another gold in the women’s team recurve event where India stand in the way.
Meanwhile, Diya and Nasrin have already guaranteed a gold for Bangladesh since the two will be taking on each other in the women’s individual recurve event’s gold-medal decider.
