The government has re-fixed the price of soybean oil after reducing VAT on import and production.

At the retail level, the price of bottled soybean oil has been reduced by Tk 8 per liter to Tk 160. The price of 5 liters of bottled oil has been reduced by Tk 35 to Tk 760. The price of open soybean oil has been reduced by Tk 4 to Tk 136.

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh told reporters after a meeting with officials of oil producing companies at the secretariat on Sunday.

At the retail level, the price of one liter of soybean oil has been fixed at Tk 160, 5 liter at Tk 760 and one liter of open soybean oil at Tk 136. This price will be effective till the coming Eid-ul-Fitr.

This price will be effective at Millgate from tomorrow. However, it may take another five to six days for it to become effective at the consumer level, said the Commerce Secretary.
