VGF’s rice distribution program has been organized by Bandarban Sadar Upazila’s 3rd Sadar and 2nd Kuhalang Union Parishad and in collaboration with the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief/Disaster Management Department (DDM) on the occasion of Holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The distribution of the rice was held on Monday (April 25) morning in Bandarban Sadar Upazila’s 3rd Sadar Union and 2nd Kuhalong Union under the VGF program.
Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing (MP) distributed VGF rice among the destitute,helpless,other disaster affected and extremely poor families as the chief guest at the function presided over by Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Sabrina Afrin Mustafa.
At that time,The Hill Tracts Minister Bir Bahadur said Bangladesh is now self-sufficient in food.He Added,Today Bangladesh is known as a self-reliant nation on the world map under the leadership of People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina.Educated youth have got jobs at home.
The government is working relentlessly to ensure food,clothing and shelter for every human being.As part of this,The government is distributing 10 kg of rice to each needy family under the VGF program on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md Reza Sarwar,Executive Magistrate of the district administration Rajib Kumar Biswas,Sadar UP Chairman Aung Sa Hla Marma, Kuhalong Union Parishad Chairman Mongpu Marma,Sadar Union Panel Chairman Biral Thanchangya were present on the occasion.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr,10 kg of rice was distributed to 700 families of Sadar Union (No.3) and 820 families of Kuhalong Union (No.2).In this regard,Bandarban Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Sabrina Afrin Mustafa said that VGF rice is being distributed in Bandarban Sadar Upazila on the occasion of Holy Eid-ul-Fitr considering 16 instructions.
On this occasion,VGF rice will be distributed in 5 unions of Bandarban Sadar Upazila against 3483 cards at the rate of 10 kg each.Uno Sabrina Added Also,In the financial year (2021-22),34.830 metric tons of rice has been sub-allocated in proportion to the population.
