A Shanti Paribahan bus caught fire in Dighinala of Khagrachhari district (26 March).
The incident took place at Dighinala Union Parishad area of the upazila at 5 pm on Tuesday. Noor-Nabi, station officer of Dighinala Fire Service, said that two units of the fire service went to the spot and brought the fire under control after half an hour.
Dighinala Union Chairman Pragyan Jyoti Chakma said that after receiving information from the locals, he came to the spot and saw Shanti Paribahan burning. Sumon Debnath, office assistant of Khagrachhari Shanti Paribahan, said that although no passenger was injured in the fire, at least Tk 3 million was lost due to the burning of the vehicle.
Khagrachhari Superintendent of Police Mohammad Abdul Aziz said he had not yet heard of the bus being set on fire. However, the police are active to keep the law and order situation normal.
