Awareness workshops and training workshops have been held under the Department of Environment’s “Integrated and Partnership Project on Noise Pollution Control”.
Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Yasmin Parvin Tibriji was present as the chief guest at the workshop held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Room on Tuesday (May 10).
Department of Environment,Chittagong Region Director (Deputy Secretary) Mufidul Alam presided over the workshop.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Suraiya Akhter Sweety,Additional District Magistrate Umme Kulsum,Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Md.Quddus Faraji,PPM) Were present as special guests on the occasion.

Former Sadar Upazila Chairman Abdul Kuddus,Press Club President Monirul Islam Manu,Executive officers of 5 upazilas, journalists of print and electronic media, senior officials of government and non-government organizations participated in the workshop.
The workshop was implemented by EQMS Consulting Limited,an environmental consulting firm.Md.Masum Reza, Environmental Consultant,EQMS Consulting Ltd. Said that “EQMS Consulting Ltd. and its affiliate,Atmospheric Pollution Study Center (CAPS),are working together on noise level in 64 district towns under integrated and participatory project on noise pollution control”.
According to the Bandarban office of the Department of Environment,the purpose of the project is to collect information and formulate effective recommendations to assist in the implementation of Noise Pollution (Control) Rules-2006.
It is proposed to survey 5 places in Bandarban to survey the noise level surrounding the district town.
The proposed survey areas are identified as Bandarban Sadar Hospital area as silent area,Circuit House area as residential area,Bandarban Government College area as mixed area,traffic mode as commercial area and any industrial area or BSIC area as industrial area.The workshop was conducted by Md.Masum Reza,Environmental Consultant,EQMS Consulting Limited.
