SREYA: Media Campaign to Ensure Improved Social Security for Young Women and Adolescents

A dialogue media campaign on empowerment of women and adolescents and sustainable upliftment of youth has been organized under the Shreya project implemented by Ananya Kalyan Sangathan (AKS).

 

The media campaign was held on Tuesday (March 29) evening at the Cuff of Joy restaurant with journalists from print and electronic media in Bandarban district.
Daw Nai Prue Naly,Executive Director of Ananya Welfare Organization (AKS) presided over the function.

 

Hosne Ara Shirin,a cultural activist and Aks member of EC read a discussion paper on “Violence against hill women in family and society and customary law” organized by Bangladesh Nari Pragati Sangha and Ananya Kalyan Sangathan.

 

The main objective of the project,in collaboration with the Foundation for the People (MJF),is to ensure improved social security for young women and adolescents in the Bandarban Hill District.According to the organizers, it will benefit 12 to 22 year olds from 42 villages of Bandarban Sadar Upazila,Bandarban Municipality,Kuhalang and Sualak Union.Activist Forum Member Dr.Ma Sung Singh,Activist Forum Member Menai Pru,Activist Forum General Secretary May Singh Nu,OHLF Project Coordinator Dwidhita Chakma,Project Trainee Officer (Shreya Project) Daw May Pru Happy were present on the occasion.

 

AKS Executive Director Daw Nai Prue Nali briefed the media on the aims and objectives of the media campaign at the media campaign event organized in collaboration with community facilitator Eliprue Marma.

 

Former President of Bandarban Press Club Aminul Islam Bachchu,General Secretary of Bandarban Press Club Minarul Haque,Press Club member Koushik Dasgupta and others participated in the important exchange of views on the 12 recommendations of the discussion paper.

 

It is worth mentioning that,AKS has been implementing various programs in different areas of Bandarban for a long time to ensure the protection of women and adolescents on the basis of this project funded by Global Affairs Canada.
