No irregularities will be tolerated in upazila elections: dc shah mujahid

Bandarban Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shah Mujahid Uddin has warned that any kind of irregularity will not be tolerated in the upcoming upazila elections.He said,if there is a complaint of violating the code of conduct of the election and someone is doing irregularities,prompt action will be taken subject to investigation.

On the occasion of the 6th Upazila Parishad General Election,the DC held an exchange of views on code of conduct and law and order issues with the candidates in the hall of the Bandarban District Commissioner’s office on Thursday (May 2).Shah Mujahid Uddin uttered such a warning in his speech as the chief guest.The Deputy Commissioner said,Bandarban is a very peaceful district.The people of this area strongly believe in harmony.The proof of which is that no complaints have been given to the election commission by the rival candidates regarding the upazila elections.

The Election Commission is working tirelessly for a free and peaceful election.It is important to cooperate with the Election Commission and abide by the code of conduct for all candidates participating in the elections.We will not exempt anyone if we get any information of irregularities in the polling process.I will check the information quickly and stop taking votes in that center if necessary,but I will not allow the election to be corrupted in any way.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Umme Kulsum,Assistant Superintendent of Police (DSB) Md.Chalah Uddin,District Election Officer and Upazila Parishad Election Returning Officer M.M.Shahadat Hossain were present at the time.Chairman, male and female vice chairman candidates were also present on the occasion.

On May 8,the first phase of Sadar Upazila and Alikadam Upazila of Bandarban will be held.On May 21,the second phase of the polling of Lama and Naikhongchari upazilas is scheduled to be held.In these two elections,Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Umme Kulsum will serve as the returning officer.Meanwhile, the candidates are busy campaigning around the elections. The Election Commission is making all preparations to hold a fair and free election.
