The 26th anniversary of the Bandarban Hill Peace Accord was celebrated with a colorful programme.On Saturday (December 2) joint organized by Bandarban hill district council and Army Region of the 26th anniversary celebration started auspiciously with the release of balloons and peace pigeons in the premises of the District Commissioner’s office. Then the harmony’s auspicious procession went out and after circumambulating the main main road of the city and it was gathered at kings ground.
11 small ethnic communities with bengali of the hilly areas participated in harmony’s auspicious procession with colorful clothes,banners and festoons in their hands.Later,a discussion meeting was held on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Hill Peace Treaty at the King’s Field.
In the discussion meeting the chief guest, Brigadier General Md.Golam Mahiuddin Ahmed said,everyone’s sincerity and cooperation is needed to continue the trend of development that has started here after the Mountain Peace Agreement.Those who try to create any kind of disturbance in the hills will be dealt with legally.We want peace and development to continue in the hills.Law and order forces including the army are alert and active to ensure peace.
Acting Chairman of bandarban hill district council Kanchan Joy Tangchangya presided over the event.Deputy Commissioner Shah Mujahid Uddin, Superintendent of Police Saikat Shahen, Chief Executive Officer of bhdc Masum Billah,Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Md.Rayhan Kazemi, Municipal Mayor Shamsul Islam,Hill District council member Laxmi pada Das and other officials present.
Also,on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Peace Treaty, Bandarban Health Department and Army’s 7 Field Ambulances organized free medical care and medicine distribution among the poor and needy.winter clothes were distributed to the needy on the occasion of the day.In the afternoon,handball and football competitions were held at Bandarban District Stadium.The program of the day ended with an interesting cultural program.
